For all our spouting of "Christ's love," Christians don 't do a great job of getting the message across. Instead, we've alienated hundreds of thousands, if not millions of souls, all over the world, who associate our actions with that of Jesus Christ. But Christ never walked a picket line with a sign that read "God hates fags..." He never blew up an abortion clinic (or whatever the historical cultural equivalent was). He loved. In fact, the only sharp words that Jesus ever spoke were pointed at the religious folk of his day.

Democrats and various other liberal groups have fared much better in their search for the disenfranchised, but it's sad, because they've built their relationship on lies. Lies. Choice for women, marriage rights for homosexuals, life for death row inmates, a cure for Parkinson's. Lies. These aren't "causes;" these are platforms. To the liberals, people who truly want these things aren't people, they're potential votes. Look what happened when the value of the Religious Right's approval went up: Democrats abandoned their platforms and tried to out-conservative the Conservatives, and for the most part, they succeeded.

The message of the Christians, to those striken with Parkinson's, and to lesbians, and to gays, and to preganant women who don't know if they want a child, should be this: We love you, and will continue to love you, no matter how you vote.
To the members of the Democratic Party, to Hillary Clinton, to Howard Dean, to Nancy Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy, my words are the same. I love each and every one of you, regardless of the fact that we disagree. Even if you never love me back.

Hey there, I like your post... The fake compassion I see coming from the Right wing and the useless and manipulative compassion from the Left tend to make me want to vomit. I just wrote a post about that, actually... Check it out if you like, it's called "The Slim, Laughable Possibility that Jesus Was Right," or something like that.

From one near-heretic to another,
Jacob
